All members of the Board of Trustees, as well as all workers and volunteers serving in any capacity, shall demonstrate a sincere commitment to Jesus Christ and His service. They are expected to model a life that reflects the spiritual maturity and godly character outlined in Romans 12:10–12:
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
This passage serves as the guiding expression of our spiritual culture—calling each leader and servant to authentic Christian living, humble leadership, and a life marked by prayer, perseverance, and love.
The Association of Cedarbrook Camps affirms the following core tenets of the Christian faith (click each for details):
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three coequal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is both fully God and fully man.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority in all matters of faith and life.
We believe that all people were created in the image of God, but through sin incurred both physical and spiritual death. All human beings are born with a sinful nature, which gives rise to sinful acts in thought, word, and deed.
(Genesis 1:26; Romans 5:12; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 6:23; Romans 3:23)
We believe that Jesus Christ died as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, the righteous for the unrighteous. All who believe in Him are justified by grace through His shed blood.
(Romans 5:8–9; Ephesians 2:8–9; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18)
We believe that those who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God.
We believe in the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit, who illuminates, regenerates, indwells, and sanctifies every believer.
We believe that God immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image of God.
We believe that marriage is a sacred union created by God to be exclusively between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is to be reserved for marriage alone.
(Genesis 2:18–25; Matthew 19:1–9; Ephesians 5:22–33; Romans 1:18–32; Hebrews 13:4)
We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His current ministry as our High Priest and advocate, and His personal return in power and glory.
(1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Hebrews 4:14–16; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17)
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost—those saved to everlasting life and those lost to eternal judgment.
(Acts 24:15; Revelation 20:15; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:20–24)
We believe that God offers full redemption and spiritual restoration to all who confess and turn from their sins, seeking His mercy through Jesus Christ.
